1:05 Speaker 2: important aspect. When you look at Second Timothy chapter two,

1:10 Speaker 2: when you look at this passage, I'm going to be

1:14 Speaker 2: reading to you from the Message version one important verse

1:17 Speaker 2: It says a soldier on duty doesn't get caught up

1:21 Speaker 2: in making deals at the marketplace. He concentrates on carrying

1:26 Speaker 2: out orders. I want you to focus on this word.

1:28 Speaker 2: He concentrates on carrying out orders. Understand something very important

1:32 Speaker 2: here when you think of the image of a soldier.

1:35 Speaker 2: A soldier does not have the right to make decisions

1:39 Speaker 2: on his own. What he has to do is he

1:42 Speaker 2: has to be in the right position. He has to

1:44 Speaker 2: be ready. He cannot be entangled in things. If you

1:48 Speaker 2: look at the other translation, it says a soldier cannot

1:51 Speaker 2: be entangled in civilian affairs, which basically means like, for example,

1:55 Speaker 2: if you see a soldier is someone who fights for

1:58 Speaker 2: the country. He fights for the kingdom, not for himself.

2:01 Speaker 2: You and I are children of God. If we are

2:04 Speaker 2: soldiers of the king of kings and the lot of lords,

2:06 Speaker 2: and what we got to do is we're not just

2:08 Speaker 2: called to live for ourselves. We are supposed to live

2:11 Speaker 2: for the Kingdom of God. We are supposed to live

2:13 Speaker 2: for the enhancement of God's kingdom. And you're sitting I

2:17 Speaker 2: want to understand. A soldier never fights for himself. Now,

2:19 Speaker 2: if you see a civilian, what do they do? They're

2:22 Speaker 2: going around fighting or standing up for their personal justice.

2:25 Speaker 2: They're standing up for or I need water, I need

2:28 Speaker 2: a proper resources. This is in justice cost to me.

2:31 Speaker 2: So a civilian focuses on their own personal needs, but

2:35 Speaker 2: if you see a soldier always focuses on somebody else's needs.

2:40 Speaker 2: My question to you is are you being a true

2:42 Speaker 2: soldier of God? Are you? Are you truly walking in

2:46 Speaker 2: that face where we are not where You're not getting

2:49 Speaker 2: carried away by civilian affairs. You're not just you know,

2:54 Speaker 2: making deals at the marketplace. The messaguation says, basically, it

2:57 Speaker 2: says that a soldier is focus on his assignment and

3:02 Speaker 2: understand so what his position and his requirements are, and

3:06 Speaker 2: he is focused and he concentrates and he puts himself

3:09 Speaker 2: completely into it. Because if you see in verse one

3:14 Speaker 2: in the message version, he says, my son, throw yourself

3:17 Speaker 2: in into the work of for Christ. Throw yourself in.

3:22 Speaker 2: It's like imagine an image of people, you know, doing

3:28 Speaker 2: somersault into the ocean, or of jumping into this into

3:34 Speaker 2: a swimming pool. You know how they do that. You

3:36 Speaker 2: know they're throwing themselves in. You know that's the kind

3:40 Speaker 2: of an image you and I need to carry of

3:42 Speaker 2: us throwing ourselves into the work of God. Understanding that

3:45 Speaker 2: you and I are called to be his soldiers. And

3:48 Speaker 2: what's more important, understand he says, he concentrates on carrying

3:52 Speaker 2: out orders. A soldier doesn't decide things. He goes by

3:56 Speaker 2: the orders giving to him from his high command. This

4:00 Speaker 2: is a reminder for each one of us that we

4:02 Speaker 2: are not called to make our own decisions. We are

4:04 Speaker 2: not called to live our own life. We are not

4:06 Speaker 2: called to just make our own strategies and plans. You

4:10 Speaker 2: have to understand that you and I are called to

4:12 Speaker 2: go in that sense of discerning the voice of God,

4:19 Speaker 2: which I've been talking to you and reminding you of,

4:21 Speaker 2: and go ask for the command that you received from

4:24 Speaker 2: the Lord. You know one other things that I've made

4:28 Speaker 2: making a personal commitment, especially in this year's God, I

4:32 Speaker 2: don't want to preach anything by myself. I don't want

4:36 Speaker 2: to preach something just because I have a lot of

4:38 Speaker 2: data available. I have a lot of information. Because I'm

4:42 Speaker 2: sure you might know this. I was just talking to

4:44 Speaker 2: someone a while ago. You know, have released thousands of

4:50 Speaker 2: pieces of content right, more than two hundred episodes on

4:54 Speaker 2: the podcast alone, plus over the last thirteen years, which

4:59 Speaker 2: is of the Man. Ever since I started out, you know,

5:03 Speaker 2: from my college days, so many thousands or pieces of

5:07 Speaker 2: content in the form of posts, in the com of

5:10 Speaker 2: in the form of podcast episodes, TV programs and preaching

5:14 Speaker 2: assignments and you know, preaching opportunities live and in person

5:20 Speaker 2: and all of the different things. And I want to

5:23 Speaker 2: tell you something I can be like, I don't want

5:26 Speaker 2: to just make my own decision. Every message should have

5:30 Speaker 2: the breath of God, the leading of God. That has

5:33 Speaker 2: been my heartbeat, because like this verse says, a soldier

5:37 Speaker 2: doesn't make up his own decisions. He concentrates on carrying

5:41 Speaker 2: out orders. I want to be someone who concentrates and say,

5:46 Speaker 2: is this what the Lord wants me to say today?

5:49 Speaker 2: Is just a word of the Lord for people today?

5:52 Speaker 2: Is this something I need to post this? Is this

5:57 Speaker 2: the word that God wants to give and blessed someone today?

6:03 Speaker 2: I'm making that personal commitment to be synced with God,

6:08 Speaker 2: to operate in accordance to the command that I receive,

6:12 Speaker 2: so that I will carry out the orders like how

6:15 Speaker 2: a soldier carries out the orders from his high command.

6:20 Speaker 2: Can that be your prayer today that you will operate

6:23 Speaker 2: like a proper soldier who depends on the Lord and

6:28 Speaker 2: says God, Holy Spirit, you lead me, you guide me,

6:33 Speaker 2: you instruct me, and you take me in the direction

6:36 Speaker 2: that you want me to go. That is the sign

6:40 Speaker 2: of a true soldier of God.
