How to Sleep When Your World is Falling Apart? | Acts 12:6 Sermon | John Giftah | Biblical Teaching
Tonight's Episode
Can you trust GOD enough to sleep before your breakthrough arrives? In this powerful episode of the Fuel for the Soul with John Giftah Podcast, we dive into a revelation from Acts 12:6 that most people miss. While we often celebrate Peter’s miraculous escape from prison, the real miracle happened before the gates opened: Peter was fast asleep.
Imagine the scene: Apostle James had just been killed. Peter was in maximum security, bound with chains between two soldiers. His execution was likely hours away. Yet, Peter was in such a deep state of supernatural peace that an angel had to strike him to wake him up.
Are you losing sleep over your "prison" today? Whether it’s financial uncertainty, a health crisis, or a delayed promise, this message will challenge you to move from a place of panic to a place of absolute trust in JESUS.

Speaker 1: Do you ever look around and think, Wow, the world
Speaker 1: is a crazy place and it just seems to get
Speaker 1: crazier and crazier. Ease your mind and take a break.
Speaker 1: This is Fuel for the Soul with John Gifta. We're
Speaker 1: a hub for inspirational Christian sermons, practical keys for Christian living,
Speaker 1: and Christian discussions and interviews. You'll be inspired to live
Speaker 1: the life that you were created for. Your host is
Speaker 1: a top ranking podcaster, best selling author, world record holder,
Speaker 1: aerospace engineer, life coach, evangelist, and founder of John Gifta International.
Speaker 1: Welcome to Fuel for the Soul with John Gifta.
Speaker 2: Hello everyone, Welcome to this edition of the Fuel for
Speaker 2: the Soul with John Gifta podcast. A couple of weeks ago,
Speaker 2: if you just go back and scrawl down, or if
Speaker 2: you're checking this out on YouTube, I did a series
Speaker 2: of lessons that we can take away from the first
Speaker 2: verses of accept A twelve. I really recommend you to
Speaker 2: go back because there's so much to unpack and learn,
Speaker 2: and today I want to talk about a couple of
Speaker 2: revelations that we can take away from verse six onwards
Speaker 2: in this chapter. Because there's so much to unpack, so
Speaker 2: much to learn, and I really pray that you'll stay
Speaker 2: plugged in and receive everything that the Lord wants to
Speaker 2: speak to you through this incident as well. See, one
Speaker 2: of the things I wanted to understand, to just give
Speaker 2: you a brief idea, is that this king has God
Speaker 2: so mad. What he did was he just killed the
Speaker 2: apostle James, and now he has imprisoned the apostle Peter,
Speaker 2: intending to do the same to apostle Peter what he
Speaker 2: did to Apostle James. But the scripture says in verse five,
Speaker 2: while Peter was in prison, the church prayed for Peter earnestly.
Speaker 2: So I really recommend you that if your life is
Speaker 2: not the way it's supposed to be, the place to
Speaker 2: start is to be in a place where you pray,
Speaker 2: where you seek the Lord, when you're looking up to him,
Speaker 2: drawing strength from him and saying, God, I need your help.
Speaker 2: I need you to help me. And what I want
Speaker 2: you to understand is there's so much to unpack. But
Speaker 2: first of the thing, one of the things I want
Speaker 2: to talk about in today's segment is when you look
Speaker 2: at verse six, it says the night before Peter was
Speaker 2: to be placed on trial. He was asleep, fastened with
Speaker 2: two chains between two soldiers. Others stood guard at the
Speaker 2: door gate. Now listen to this cafe. An angel comes
Speaker 2: to him and look at verse number seven. It says
Speaker 2: the angel struck him on the side to wake him
Speaker 2: up and says, quick, get up. See, I want you
Speaker 2: to understand something here. Peter is in the same position
Speaker 2: as the apostle James, where he is about to be sentenced,
Speaker 2: put on trial, and he's going to be killed. He's
Speaker 2: on the verge of being in the same position as
Speaker 2: the apostle James, which means his life is at stake.
Speaker 2: Now you may be watching saying John, that's really sad
Speaker 2: to place to be, or maybe in your life you
Speaker 2: may be in a very similar position where you're saying, John,
Speaker 2: I feel like my life is at stick. I feel
Speaker 2: like everything has gone away out of my control. Things
Speaker 2: are not working out. Maybe it's with regard to your career,
Speaker 2: your job situation. It looks very bad. You don't know
Speaker 2: when you're going to lose your job or when things
Speaker 2: are going to be really bad. Maybe things are just
Speaker 2: not working out. With regard to your business, you're not
Speaker 2: getting the right clients, you're not getting the finances on time,
Speaker 2: you're not sure how you're going to pay your next bill.
Speaker 2: Or maybe with regard to a relationship, you're feeling like
Speaker 2: one next thing that flies up might stop or sabotage
Speaker 2: your relationship completely and you need to start from the
Speaker 2: scratch all over again. Or maybe with regard to a kid,
Speaker 2: maybe with regard to your calling, your ministry, or whatever
Speaker 2: it is you're saying, John, no matter what, it feels
Speaker 2: like it's in a dead end. It feels like it's
Speaker 2: in the same place that somebody else is in. Like
Speaker 2: maybe somebody else died of the sickness, and now my
Speaker 2: reports feel like I'm also going to die in this sickness.
Speaker 2: Or when I look at what has happened to somebody else,
Speaker 2: it feels like they got laid I'm also going to
Speaker 2: get laid off. Say I wanted to understand. That's why
Speaker 2: I want you to go back to that scripture, the
Speaker 2: series that I did, and to be filled with God's
Speaker 2: word and strength and comfort from that series. But one
Speaker 2: of the things I wanted to understand is Peter is
Speaker 2: on a similar position. He's in a place where his
Speaker 2: life is at stake. But what really caught my attention
Speaker 2: was he was fast asleep. How can you sleep in
Speaker 2: the midst of certain death? How can you sleep in
Speaker 2: the midst of everything going away or going against what
Speaker 2: you would intend for your.
Speaker 1: Life to be.
Speaker 2: Think about Peter. How could he be at a place
Speaker 2: of peace to a point where he can sleep in
Speaker 2: the midst of knowing that he may not be even
Speaker 2: alive the next day. What kind of a level of
Speaker 2: trust he was operating him? What kind of a level
Speaker 2: of peace and comfort he was able to draw from
Speaker 2: the presence of the Lord?
Speaker 1: Like?
Speaker 2: Think about this? See, I hear so many times people say, Oh,
Speaker 2: I'm not able to sleep at all. I'm always worried,
Speaker 2: I'm always anxious. You see, I'm not denying the problem.
Speaker 2: I'm not saying that you know the weight of your
Speaker 2: problem is not there, or you know you don't have
Speaker 2: the right to worry or anything. I'm not saying that, yes,
Speaker 2: the problem is real, the concern is genuine. But the
Speaker 2: truth of the matter is That's why the Bible says
Speaker 2: in Philippines four verse six that you do not worry
Speaker 2: about anything, but pray about everything. How was Peter in
Speaker 2: a position where he knew that his life was at stake,
Speaker 2: when nothing was in his control, when everything had gone
Speaker 2: against him. How could he be at a place of rest,
Speaker 2: be at a place where he's fast asleep when he
Speaker 2: knows that his next day was not guaranteed. I want
Speaker 2: to tell you, guys, this is the place where we
Speaker 2: allow the scripture to not just be stories that we
Speaker 2: just look at and be inspired, but we say, God,
Speaker 2: if Peter could sleep in the midst of an uncertain
Speaker 2: night when he knew nothing about what was going to
Speaker 2: happen the net today, help me to be at a
Speaker 2: place of peace. I can be at a place of peace.
Speaker 2: I can be the place of rest. I can trust
Speaker 2: the Lord, saying God, I don't know how I'm going
Speaker 2: to pay my bills tomorrow. I do not know how
Speaker 2: I'm going to be the right person. I do not
Speaker 2: know how I'm going to make sure that I get
Speaker 2: the job or the client, or the contract or the
Speaker 2: thing coming my way. Can I tell you something that's
Speaker 2: the place of peace and trust. I really challenge you
Speaker 2: to be if you are in a place of worry
Speaker 2: and anxiety, if you're not able to sleep at nights,
Speaker 2: I really pray in the name of Jesus Christ, that
Speaker 2: you will be able to pray, get to that place
Speaker 2: where you are in that absolute place of trust, knowing
Speaker 2: that God is in control of your life. It may
Speaker 2: not make sense in the natural. It may not look like, Hey,
Speaker 2: you don't understand the seriousness of the problem. No, you
Speaker 2: are fully aware of the seriousness of the problem. But
Speaker 2: you're saying, you know what. Yes, the problem may be big,
Speaker 2: but my God is bigger. Yes, I feel that there's
Speaker 2: no way out for me in the natural, but I
Speaker 2: know I serve a supernatural God. Yes, it feels like
Speaker 2: I'm just just in this place of helplessness, but you
Speaker 2: know what, I look up to the hills from whence
Speaker 2: my health comes from. My health comes from the Lord,
Speaker 2: the maker of heaven and earth. So I challenge you today,
Speaker 2: if you're in a place where you're not getting sleep,
Speaker 2: you're worried, you're anxious, I want to pray in the
Speaker 2: name of Jesus Christ, that you will have the strength
Speaker 2: to stop worrying and start praying to to get to
Speaker 2: that place of absolute trust. In the name of Jesus,
Speaker 2: that you will be able to be like the appostle
Speaker 2: Paul sleep in the midst of your trouble. You'll be
Speaker 2: able to rest in the place of restlessness. You'll be
Speaker 2: able to find that comfort in the midst of chaos,
Speaker 2: knowing you're not the one figuring out your life, but
Speaker 2: God is, and He will perfect everything which concerns you
Speaker 2: and will help you fulfill the purpose that He has
Speaker 2: since so for you. I really challenge you to leave
Speaker 2: a comment if you're checking this out on YouTube or Facebook,
Speaker 2: and share this with someone who needs to hear this
Speaker 2: word you back next time. God bless you.
