Speaker 1: aerospace engineer, life coach, evangelist and founder of John Gifta International.
Speaker 1: Welcome to Fuel for the Soul with John Gifta.
Speaker 2: Hello everyone, Welcome to this edition of the Fuel for
Speaker 2: the Soul with John gift of podcast. All through this week,
Speaker 2: we are looking at various lessons we can take away
Speaker 2: from the life of Elijah from One King chapter nineteen,
Speaker 2: where he's dealing with a deep sense of depression, so
Speaker 2: that we can take away some practical lessons so that
Speaker 2: we can have the right mental health that God has
Speaker 2: intended for us. And I want you to stay tuned
Speaker 2: because I'm going to release a special episode with Rainie
Speaker 2: Jacob on this aspect in a deeper fashion, because that's
Speaker 2: going to help you live the kind of life that
Speaker 2: God has intended for each one of us. So one
Speaker 2: of the things I wanted to understand. When you think
Speaker 2: about Elijah when he's in this deep depression and he's
Speaker 2: in a cave right now, there's a moment where he's
Speaker 2: in a cave and he hears God. Yeah. So when
Speaker 2: you look at verse fourteen when he just heard the
Speaker 2: voice of God, God is asking him, what are you
Speaker 2: doing here, Elijah? And then Elijah gives one big, you know,
Speaker 2: pain builds message, saying, oh, I've been zealous for the Lord,
Speaker 2: God of Hosts because the sons of Israel abandoned your covenant,
Speaker 2: torn down your altars, and killed your prophets with the sword.
Speaker 2: I only I am left, and they're trying to take
Speaker 2: my life away. And verse fifteen onwards, the Lord speaks
Speaker 2: to Elijah and gives them the next assignment and goes
Speaker 2: on to say, I will I will leave seven thousands. However,
Speaker 2: so when he says that I'm the only one, God
Speaker 2: is saying, you know what, there are still seven thousand
Speaker 2: in Israel who have not bowed down to bail who's
Speaker 2: still on our side. They've not compromised okay, So I
Speaker 2: want you to understand something here. The next verse six,
Speaker 2: so Elijah departed from there and went ahead with the assignment.
Speaker 2: He had to meet with Elijah, and you know, and
Speaker 2: the story goes on. So I want you to understand
Speaker 2: something important here, right. The key to come out of
Speaker 2: that depression, to come out of the cave that you're in,
Speaker 2: to come out of the darkness that you're in, to
Speaker 2: come out is a moment where you may be in pain.
Speaker 2: You have been, you know, in a very desperate state.
Speaker 2: And the key at this point is for you to
Speaker 2: hear the voice of God. And as God gives you
Speaker 2: the next instruction, you start operating in it. You start
Speaker 2: moving ahead in it. And when you start doing what
Speaker 2: God has intended for you to do, when you start
Speaker 2: moving towards what God wants you to do, there is
Speaker 2: no more space for you to sit in the darkness
Speaker 2: that you were in. The minute he got his new assignment,
Speaker 2: he started going in that direction. All these thoughts of depression,
Speaker 2: these thoughts of oh, I don't want to live anymore,
Speaker 2: these thoughts of our fear have left Elijah completely. See.
Speaker 2: I remember this moment where there were two kids who
Speaker 2: came home many many years ago, and they were creating
Speaker 2: such a ruckus. You know, we had to keep telling
Speaker 2: don't touch this, don't climb there, Oh that's dangerous, don't
Speaker 2: drop that. We were getting so restless because they were
Speaker 2: so restless. We were like always on the tours, like,
Speaker 2: oh my gosh, be careful, and you know, things like that,
Speaker 2: to a point where my mom just brought two coloring
Speaker 2: note books with some color pencils and gave to the
Speaker 2: two kids. And after that we were at least they
Speaker 2: were at least they started coloring, and they forgot about
Speaker 2: all the destruction they were costing so long. See, I
Speaker 2: want you to understand the same way. Your mind has
Speaker 2: a certain element of energy to think proper thoughts, to
Speaker 2: think thoughts in accordance to the will and the world
Speaker 2: and the plan and purpose of God, to fulfill the
Speaker 2: purpose that God has for you. Or you could be
Speaker 2: entertaining negative thoughts, thoughts of depression, talks of defeat, thoughts
Speaker 2: of negativity, and I love your life to be in
Speaker 2: a very gloomy way. My question is like, Elijah, can
Speaker 2: you get to that place where maybe you were depressed,
Speaker 2: maybe God had to speak to you and comfort you
Speaker 2: and give you that word to say. Like when Elijah
Speaker 2: was feeling like, oh, I'm the only one, God had
Speaker 2: to tell him You're not the only one. There are
Speaker 2: seven thousand other people who are on our side. You're
Speaker 2: not the only one suffering in this. You're not the
Speaker 2: only one going through this. You're not the only one
Speaker 2: who went through this kind of negative experience. You are
Speaker 2: not the only one. Maybe that was the word that
Speaker 2: Elijah needed at that point that healed him, because right
Speaker 2: after that God tells him this is your next assignment.
Speaker 2: Go and what happens The minute he's busy doing that,
Speaker 2: he forgets about all that he just thought about. So long?
Speaker 2: Are you what I'm saying? You know, I wanted to
Speaker 2: just try this out. Okay, wherever you are now, close
Speaker 2: your eyes and don't think about a crocodile. Don't think
Speaker 2: about a crocodile. Don't think about a crocodile. All right, now,
Speaker 2: what came to your mind? I'm sure it was a crocodile.
Speaker 2: I told you don't think about a crocodile, but I'm
Speaker 2: sure you kept seeing a crocodile in your mind. Now,
Speaker 2: I want you to think about a cute little puppy,
Speaker 2: a cute little puppy that just runs around, wiggles with tale.
Speaker 2: Keep thinking, now, what did you think about the puppy
Speaker 2: right now? No, none of you thought about the crocodile,
Speaker 2: which I told you don't think about. See, your mind
Speaker 2: tends to focus on the thing that is the object
Speaker 2: of your statement. Like for example, when I said don't
Speaker 2: think about the crocodile again, your mind was still thinking
Speaker 2: about the crocodile. When I said think about the puppy,
Speaker 2: the mind was thinking about the object, which was the puppy.
Speaker 2: See what this is a principle I want you to understand.
Speaker 2: The minute your mind starts thinking about what God wants
Speaker 2: you to think about, what God wants you to focus
Speaker 2: on the assignment in front of you, you will not
Speaker 2: have the time or the mind to actually think about
Speaker 2: the negative thing. The minute Elijah's mind was filled with
Speaker 2: the new assignment, he forgot about what he just went through.
Speaker 2: This is a message for some of you. Maybe the
Speaker 2: reason why you are still not able to let go
Speaker 2: of the replaying in your mind about the negative things
Speaker 2: that are making you feel so gloomy is because you're
Speaker 2: constantly thinking about what you're not supposed to think about,
Speaker 2: even though you know you're not supposed to think about it,
Speaker 2: because it's still the object. Like the way I told
Speaker 2: you don't think about the crocodile, you keep on thinking
Speaker 2: about the crocodile because you keep in your mind like, oh,
Speaker 2: I should not think about this, I should not think
Speaker 2: about it. By that process, you end up thinking about it.
Speaker 2: But if you can focus on what you're supposed to
Speaker 2: think about, when you focus on fulfilling your purpose, focus
Speaker 2: on doing what God hasn't call you to do, focus
Speaker 2: on what is the assignment in front of you. What
Speaker 2: happens when you're doing the right thing, you will not
Speaker 2: be able to think about the wrong life. I want
Speaker 2: to pray in Jesus' name, like Elijah, you will experience
Speaker 2: the deliverance right now with the name of Jesus, that
Speaker 2: the Lord will speak to you in your place, wherever
Speaker 2: you are, that you will encounter the Lord. Instead of
Speaker 2: allowing the depression to make you go away from God,
Speaker 2: this depression will cause you to go towards the Lord.
Speaker 2: Instead of allowing this darkness and this gloominess to take
Speaker 2: control of your life. I pray that you will be
Speaker 2: drawn closer to God to a point where you can
Speaker 2: hear the voice of God, where you will be able
Speaker 2: to discern his voice, and the Lord will speak to you,
Speaker 2: minister to you, heal you, comfort you, because he said
Speaker 2: in his word, he sent his rama word and he healed.
Speaker 2: He will send his word and he will heal this
Speaker 2: spoken word. And what happens once he's healing you and
Speaker 2: restoring you. What happens, He's going to give you the
Speaker 2: next assignment for you to go focus on. And when
Speaker 2: you are so focused on your next assignment, when you
Speaker 2: are pressing forward like the apostle word to what is
Speaker 2: ahead of you, not looking at what was behind you,
Speaker 2: what happens you will be able to move forward into
Speaker 2: the next level of the destiny that God has in
Speaker 2: store for you. I really challenge you to leave a
Speaker 2: comment and share this with someone and I will see
Speaker 2: you back with you soon. God bless you.
