Walking in Love – Part 6: Love Without Hidden Agenda | John Giftah | Christian Sermon
Tonight's Episode
In Part 6 of the Walking in Love series, we explore a deeper layer of unconditional love — loving without hidden agendas.True CHRIST-like love is not transactional. It does not love in order to gain influence, approval, control, or recognition. GOD’s love toward us was never based on what He could gain from us — it was freely given.
In a world where relationships are often driven by benefit, expectations, or emotional return, Scripture calls believers to a higher standard — to love with sincerity and purity of heart.
This episode challenges you to reflect on your motives:
Do you love people for who they are — or for what they can give you?

Speaker 1: crazier and crazier. Ease your mind and take a break.

Speaker 1: and Christian discussions and interviews. You'll be inspired to live
Speaker 1: the life that you were created for. Your host is

Speaker 1: Welcome to Fuel for the Soul with John Gifta.
Speaker 2: Hello everyone, and welcome to this edition of the Fuel
Speaker 2: for the Soul with John GIFTAP podcast. And as you
Speaker 2: would have seen that, we are doing a series on
Speaker 2: how you can practically walk in love. And all through
Speaker 2: last week I was doing the PA and sharing a
Speaker 2: lot of things that were like the foundation for us
Speaker 2: to understand about the kind of love that we are
Speaker 2: called to operate in. And I challenged you that it's
Speaker 2: not something that you just do once in a while.
Speaker 2: It's not something that's just put on once in a while,
Speaker 2: but it's supposed to be a life study or you
Speaker 2: and I need to walk in love. And also I
Speaker 2: shared an important important principle on Friday that I want
Speaker 2: you to go back and listen where I shared that
Speaker 2: you and I need to operate in unconditional love. Right
Speaker 2: Because I set out so many things, I really challenge
Speaker 2: you to go back and listen to them. But today onwards,
Speaker 2: we're going to look at some of the practical ways
Speaker 2: that you can actually operate in unconditional love. And I
Speaker 2: really challenge you to introspect and pray with the part
Speaker 2: of the Holy Spirit that you will look at areas
Speaker 2: in your life. Relationships in your life may be in
Speaker 2: your workplace, your school, your family or church, community, neighborhood,
Speaker 2: anywhere where you are not operating in unconditional love, and
Speaker 2: I want you to look at them through these lenses.
Speaker 2: And as your journey, we want to make sure that
Speaker 2: God will speak to you, minister to you, convict you
Speaker 2: in areas that need to be convicted, and help you
Speaker 2: live the life that you're called to live. So today
Speaker 2: one of the aspects I want to quickly start off
Speaker 2: is to remind you that unconditional love should have no agenda.
Speaker 2: It should not have any other agenda. I remember there's
Speaker 2: a moment where the minute it's a birthday, okay, when
Speaker 2: I was in college, I remember this, especially over the
Speaker 2: boarding and all of that, people would flock from everywhere. Oh,
Speaker 2: happy birthday, Happy birthday. But the truth of the matter,
Speaker 2: you realize is that some of them never care about you,
Speaker 2: But the reason why they wished you was only because
Speaker 2: they wanted something from you. They wanted the treat. They
Speaker 2: would come out and say, hey, I was your classmate,
Speaker 2: your benchmate, your roommate, your crush mat, your this made
Speaker 2: your that mate. They would say all sorts of flattery things,
Speaker 2: not because they care about you, but just because they
Speaker 2: wanted to treat from you. I still remember there was
Speaker 2: a moment when I was in college. So I was
Speaker 2: doing my aerospace engineering program in my third year, I
Speaker 2: took I think thirteen groups of people for giving them
Speaker 2: treat on my birthday, okay, thirteen. I was like, Wow,
Speaker 2: this was my twentieth birthday, I guess, I don't know,
Speaker 2: twenty eighth or nineteenth, I don't remember. I think twenty
Speaker 2: seth if I'm not wrong. So I remember that and
Speaker 2: I was like, oh, my gosh, you know what, it's
Speaker 2: a special, and so many people are so dear to me,
Speaker 2: and without any discernment, I was like, you know, taking
Speaker 2: them for giving them treat for my birthday. And what
Speaker 2: astonished me was some of those very people that I
Speaker 2: took for my birthday because they were like, you know,
Speaker 2: so nice and saying all these fancy words and all
Speaker 2: of this stuff. I realized some of them they didn't
Speaker 2: even look at me after that, didn't even talk to me.
Speaker 2: They would ignore me. And then I raised like, oh
Speaker 2: my gosh, so all that flattery was just because they
Speaker 2: wanted to treat from me, you know what I mean.
Speaker 2: I learned things the hard way. But here's the thing
Speaker 2: I want you to understand, right, this is an important
Speaker 2: principle you need to look at. I'm going to calle
Speaker 2: a couple of scriptures and I want to come back
Speaker 2: to the point. First Corinthians, chapter thirteen, verse five. It
Speaker 2: says loo should not be self seeking. You should not
Speaker 2: you know, unconditional love. He's not self seeking. It's not
Speaker 2: about what it can gain. It's not about like, oh,
Speaker 2: you know what I wish him, or I'm nice to
Speaker 2: this person I can get something. I remember there was
Speaker 2: a moment when a boy came to me and said,
Speaker 2: you know, I want you to use your influence and
Speaker 2: get this girl for me, and I said I can't
Speaker 2: do that. And then he said, you're not letting me
Speaker 2: follow the teachings of Jesus. I said, what do you mean.
Speaker 2: He said, Jesus said love your neighbor. I'm supposed to
Speaker 2: love this girl, and you're not letting me do that.
Speaker 2: You know, he had this agenda. He had this whole
Speaker 2: self seeking like trying to you know, trying to be
Speaker 2: nice to me, trying to get my favoritism. So try
Speaker 2: to say, oh, John, you're this your that, your influential
Speaker 2: and all of that just to get my attention so
Speaker 2: that he can use me as au pon to get
Speaker 2: something else. So loo should not be self seeking. Yeah,
Speaker 2: unconditional love should not be self seeking. When you also
Speaker 2: look at Philippines two verse four, it says something very
Speaker 2: important that you're not under call to just look into
Speaker 2: your own interests, but each of you should look into
Speaker 2: the interests of others. And the one most cripture I
Speaker 2: want to show you is Romans chapter twelve, verse nine,
Speaker 2: which says that love should be sincere. I want you
Speaker 2: to get these into your spirit. Guys, is your love
Speaker 2: sincere or is it having a secret agenda? Are you
Speaker 2: showing true love to people? Are you really operating from
Speaker 2: the place of love or are you having some agendas?
Speaker 2: Are you having something in the back of your mind?
Speaker 2: Are you having something and you're trying to cover things up.
Speaker 2: You're trying to put in a show that you're very
Speaker 2: caring and loving and you're trying to exploit somebody that
Speaker 2: is not unconditional love. If you're saying, oh, you know what,
Speaker 2: I am nice to this person so that this person
Speaker 2: will do this for me. I am going the extra
Speaker 2: mile for this person because I want this person to
Speaker 2: help me in something else, which you're not showing them
Speaker 2: right away or telling them about it right away. See,
Speaker 2: I wanted you to understand. You would have seen this
Speaker 2: in movies, and you know you're seeing this in a
Speaker 2: lot of shows, but a lot of people are actually
Speaker 2: doing this in their life. And today this is a
Speaker 2: wake up call for you. If you are in some
Speaker 2: way having a secret agenda, if you're not operating people
Speaker 2: operating in unconditional love, if you're not having sincere love,
Speaker 2: if you're not putting other people's interests over yourself if
Speaker 2: you're not actually you know, if you're self seeking in
Speaker 2: your sense of showing love to people. I challenge you
Speaker 2: let this be your reminder and a wake up call
Speaker 2: that you will get back on track, get back to
Speaker 2: unconditional love and love and walk with people and care
Speaker 2: for people unconditionally, and then you'll see a change in
Speaker 2: your life. Amen, I really challenge you to stay connected
Speaker 2: for the next couple of days because there's so much
Speaker 2: to unpack and learn, and I believe that these practical
Speaker 2: tips will help you as you make the journey in
Speaker 2: getting better at your relationships that God has blessed you
Speaker 2: with Immen, God.
