What To Do When Life Is Beyond Your Control? John Giftah | Biblical Encouragement Sermon
Tonight's Episode
Welcome to Fuel for the Soul with John Giftah. In this inspiring episode from the Moses series, we explore a powerful spiritual lesson from Moses’ journey in the basket on the Nile River. While many focus on the miracle of Moses’ survival, this message digs deeper into the challenge of trust and surrender. Moses had no control over the river currents, dangers around him, or his final destination—but GOD was guiding and protecting every step.
John Giftah connects this ancient story to modern struggles with anxiety, fear, and the desire to control our futures. If you feel overwhelmed by uncertainty—whether about career, relationships, finances, or calling—this episode offers biblical encouragement to stop striving in your own strength and fully trust GOD’s sovereign hand.
Discover how surrender is an act of faith, not weakness, and learn practical wisdom to experience peace by releasing control to GOD.

Speaker 1: Welcome to Fuel for the Soul with John Gifta.
Speaker 2: This edition of the Fuel for the sol with gift
Speaker 2: of podcasts. All through this week, we are looking at
Speaker 2: various lessons that we can take away from the life
Speaker 2: of Moses, especially surrounding Exodus chapter two. See One of
Speaker 2: the things I wanted to understand, in line with what
Speaker 2: I said yesterday, is the fact that sometimes we don't
Speaker 2: even realize the kind of dangers that God is protecting
Speaker 2: us from. One of the things we look at is
Speaker 2: how Moses was just going through this Nile river. We
Speaker 2: just read this story like as if it's like a
Speaker 2: fairy tale. Story. Oh, he was just put in a
Speaker 2: basket and he was going through Nile River. But we
Speaker 2: don't realize how I shared yesterday that the Nile River
Speaker 2: had one of the most aggressive crocodiles, which actually not
Speaker 2: only looked at humans as a threat, they looked at
Speaker 2: humans as a source of food. So Moses was in
Speaker 2: dangerous territory and he didn't even know about it, and
Speaker 2: God was protecting him. And today you may be in
Speaker 2: a place in your life where you're saying, John, I'm
Speaker 2: in a very dangerous territory where my life is just
Speaker 2: gone beyond my control. I'm not even able to control it.
Speaker 2: I wanted to understand. Your life may feel like it's
Speaker 2: beyond your control. You may feel like like how Moses.
Speaker 2: Moses didn't even know this. But imagine you in the
Speaker 2: place of Moses. Maybe you feel like, John, I'm in
Speaker 2: dangerous territory and I can do nothing about it. Even
Speaker 2: if Moses knew that he was in dangerous territory, there's
Speaker 2: nothing he could do about it. You may be in
Speaker 2: a place in your life where you fay like, oh
Speaker 2: my gosh, if I could do a miracle on myself,
Speaker 2: or if I could change my circumstance. If I could
Speaker 2: just get myself hired in a job, if I could
Speaker 2: just get myself married, if I could just get myself
Speaker 2: do this or do that, if I could just do
Speaker 2: the miracle on myself or something this instance. I understand
Speaker 2: this right then I would do it because I understand
Speaker 2: that this is a big problem. This is a big
Speaker 2: terrible place to be in life. But I want you
Speaker 2: to understand something very important here because in the midst
Speaker 2: of knowing that nothing is in your control, I want
Speaker 2: you to trust the God who is still in control
Speaker 2: of your life. God is in control of your life,
Speaker 2: even when you don't feel like it, even when you
Speaker 2: are not able to control anything. I wanted to understand
Speaker 2: God is in control of your life. See, I wanted
Speaker 2: to understand this right like there. I'm also an aerospace
Speaker 2: engineer in case you don't know so. Part of the
Speaker 2: thing that we would do is there was an implant
Speaker 2: training where we would go on a two seater aircraft
Speaker 2: and there's one of those maneuvers that we do. I
Speaker 2: think it's just also known as stall in one case,
Speaker 2: but yes, the thing the manure is basically the two
Speaker 2: seater aircraft is flying at an altitude and the pilot
Speaker 2: switches off the engine and then after a few seconds,
Speaker 2: switches the engine on again. Okay, so the plane in
Speaker 2: the few seconds just goes down boom. And there are
Speaker 2: moments or instances where while the pilots are getting trained,
Speaker 2: the engine will not start immediately, so it'll be a
Speaker 2: few minutes of full tension, like, oh my gosh, what's happening.
Speaker 2: What's happening? Come on, start, start, start, because if you
Speaker 2: don't start, you're going to crash lad right, So it's
Speaker 2: a very dangerous place to be, and I realized, like
Speaker 2: how it's not in your hands. Like if you look
Speaker 2: at an amusement park, you go down even though it's dangerous,
Speaker 2: but still you know that there are ropes in place.
Speaker 2: There are all of these suspenders that are all of
Speaker 2: the things that are connecting the things, so that you
Speaker 2: know you have all those safety things in place, safety measurements,
Speaker 2: measures taken by the amusement park. But when you're flying
Speaker 2: up in the sky, you can't do all of that.
Speaker 2: There are no ropes. If the engine doesn't restart, you're
Speaker 2: just going to go straight to heaven because you're going
Speaker 2: to crash line. So it's a dangerous place to be,
Speaker 2: but I want it. At a sense, that's how your
Speaker 2: life may feel. Sometimes it's gone beyond your control. You
Speaker 2: can't control it. You the more you try to control,
Speaker 2: you're only going to freak out. You are like, oh
Speaker 2: my god, you know what, I need to do this,
Speaker 2: do that so that I won't lose my job. I
Speaker 2: still remember in one of the organizations where a lot
Speaker 2: of people getting laid off, after which the people people
Speaker 2: who were in the organization, they were like, you know what,
Speaker 2: I'm going to work so hard. I know it's toxic,
Speaker 2: I know it is scary, but I'm going to work
Speaker 2: so hard so that I won't be laid off. They worked,
Speaker 2: he is so hard. They they if I get working
Speaker 2: with the spirit of excellence. They went overboard, working trying
Speaker 2: to prove themselves. They went to a place where in
Speaker 2: the midst of toxicity, they were like, you know what,
Speaker 2: I just put up with anything so that I will
Speaker 2: be able to keep the jaw. But guess what. Many
Speaker 2: of those people ended up getting laid off in the
Speaker 2: second row of layoffs that happened in the same organization. See,
Speaker 2: you can try your best to do like, oh, I
Speaker 2: want to protect myself, but it is only going to
Speaker 2: hurt you more. But I challenge you, like the way
Speaker 2: when Moses was in the river, he had no control
Speaker 2: of where he was going. In fact, the currents in
Speaker 2: the Nile River, especially in the Egyptian region, are sometimes mild,
Speaker 2: but sometimes they are actually very dangerous as well. They
Speaker 2: can go to any kind of a situation because of
Speaker 2: the weather. So Moses was in a place where he
Speaker 2: can't control any of that. Moses was a baby. You
Speaker 2: may understand that in a little sense. You're a child
Speaker 2: of God. You're a baby in the side of the Lord,
Speaker 2: and you cannot control the kind of attacks the enemy
Speaker 2: puts at you. Sometimes your life is just beyond your control.
Speaker 2: But stop trying to hold on and stop trying to
Speaker 2: make things in your control, because that's hurting you more.
Speaker 2: You would have seen this analogy of people who are
Speaker 2: trying to hold on to ropes that are actually hurting
Speaker 2: them more. But the best thing they can do is
Speaker 2: just let go, let go of the control, let go
Speaker 2: and say, Lord, I trust you, you be in control
Speaker 2: of my life. So this is my word for some
Speaker 2: of you. Maybe you're trying to hold on things and
Speaker 2: that is actually hurting you more. But I challenge you,
Speaker 2: just like Moses was not in control of his life
Speaker 2: when he was cruising through the River Nile, I want
Speaker 2: you to know that you're not in control of your
Speaker 2: life because the enemy will try to attack you in
Speaker 2: every way possible. So the best option for you and
Speaker 2: I is to say, you know what, God, I give
Speaker 2: the control into your hands. You take control. You lead
Speaker 2: me to where you want me to go. And that's
Speaker 2: the beautiful part I want to talk about in the
Speaker 2: next segment. I hope you stay tuned next for the
Speaker 2: next episode and I will catch up with you very soon.
