Speaker 1: is a crazy place and it just seems to get
Speaker 1: crazier and crazier. Ease your mind and take a break.
Speaker 1: This is Fuel for the Soul with John Gifta. We're
Speaker 1: a hub for inspirational Christian sermons, practical keys for Christian living,
Speaker 1: and Christian discussions and interviews. You'll be inspired to live
Speaker 1: the life that you were created for. Your host is
Speaker 1: a top ranking podcaster, best selling author, world record holder,
Speaker 1: aerospace engineer, life coach, evangelist and founder of John Gifta International.
Speaker 1: Welcome to Fuel for the Soul with John Gifta.
Speaker 2: Hello everyone, Welcome to this edition of the Fuel for
Speaker 2: the Soul with John Gifta podcast. Even as we step
Speaker 2: into the first of Me, which happens to be known
Speaker 2: as Maybe also known as the liberdy, where we give
Speaker 2: the importance for resting right rest to the laborer. Here's
Speaker 2: the thing I want you to understand. When we look
Speaker 2: at life right, we are called to work in a
Speaker 2: rhythm because if you see when God created everything, the
Speaker 2: Bible says that on the seventh day he rested. It's
Speaker 2: not because he was tired, but he showed us a
Speaker 2: principle that you know what you do work, but you
Speaker 2: need to take time to rest, you need to take
Speaker 2: time to rejuvenate, get yourself back together. Because I want
Speaker 2: to tell you that, yes, I believe in being productive.
Speaker 2: I believe that you can't live in a lifestyle of
Speaker 2: complacency and laziness. I keep watching for that. I keep
Speaker 2: preaching saying, you know what, you have a call, you
Speaker 2: have a purpose. You need to be in a place
Speaker 2: where the Bible says, you know, make the most of
Speaker 2: the time that God has given you so that you
Speaker 2: don't waste your time your you know, you know what
Speaker 2: the Master wants, and you're walking in your God given
Speaker 2: calling and purpose. I believe that is so true that
Speaker 2: there's some message that needs to be given for a
Speaker 2: lot of people, But there's another message that needs to
Speaker 2: be given for the other group of people who are
Speaker 2: extreme work alcoholic where it's like, oh my gosh, I
Speaker 2: can't waste a single minute. Because I've seen family members
Speaker 2: like this, okay, where it's like you give them two
Speaker 2: minutes and say, hey, can you rest for two minutes
Speaker 2: and be like no, no, no, no, no, I can't waste
Speaker 2: even two minutes. You know what, every minute I have
Speaker 2: to give account for God, and they're in that amster
Speaker 2: wheel of you know what, I need to be productive
Speaker 2: every single minute. I need to be doing something, even
Speaker 2: if it's not effective, but I need to do something, something, something.
Speaker 2: There's this constant thing there where it's like a grind,
Speaker 2: like is happening, whether it's physically or emotionally or mentally.
Speaker 2: But today, my challenge to each one of you, under
Speaker 2: the sound of my voice is take time to rest,
Speaker 2: take time to rejuvenate, take time to relax, take time
Speaker 2: to slow down, take time to pass, because that is
Speaker 2: as much important as much as being productive. Think about this.
Speaker 2: There was no real need for God to rest because
Speaker 2: he's on my reguard. He's not resting because he was tired.
Speaker 2: You know a lot of times we think rest is
Speaker 2: only if you're tired, restless, if you're you know, like
Speaker 2: you know, you're in the moment where you need to
Speaker 2: just get back physically, or sometimes people think it's all
Speaker 2: about oh, this person is doing nothing, this person is
Speaker 2: lazy or complacent. No, no, no, no, listen to this cafelly.
Speaker 2: Your evenly father showed us a principle that to live
Speaker 2: effectively we need to walk in that rhythm where we
Speaker 2: take time intentionally to rest, intentionally, to pause. See, if
Speaker 2: people looked at Elijah when there was a season when
Speaker 2: he was just eating and sleeping, eating and sleeping, they
Speaker 2: would call him a lazy person, right, They would be like,
Speaker 2: how can this so called profit only eat and sleep?
Speaker 2: He's doing nothing productive with his life. But people don't
Speaker 2: know that he just had a very tense or a
Speaker 2: hard big season and now he's about to have another
Speaker 2: challenging season, and now is a season of rest. There's
Speaker 2: now a moment of rest. See. I want you to
Speaker 2: understand that, Yes, God takes us through seasons. God takes
Speaker 2: us through moments where some seasons are tough, some seasons
Speaker 2: are harder, some seasons are you know, in that rhythm.
Speaker 2: But here's the thing I about you to understand in
Speaker 2: every season, understand the importance of taking rest, rejuvenating. When
Speaker 2: you see even Jesus when he was crossing the lake, right,
Speaker 2: why would Jesus, the son of the living God, why
Speaker 2: would he sleep? Right? It looks like, oh Jesus was lazy. No,
Speaker 2: he knew the importance of balancing, like, yes, I need
Speaker 2: to get this work done. Yes, I'm doing this. I'm
Speaker 2: doing that, but I also take care of my physical body,
Speaker 2: emotional body, emotional part of my body, and a mental
Speaker 2: aspect as well. See, sometimes people take care of their
Speaker 2: physical in terms of rest by sleeping, but mentally and
Speaker 2: emotionally also you need to take rest like no, but
Speaker 2: if you don't do that, you end up in burnouts.
Speaker 2: That's a place I don't want you to go to. Now.
Speaker 2: People may say, where's burnouts in the Bible? Where's all
Speaker 2: this stress? Can I tell you something? During Bible times,
Speaker 2: people do not have social media coming and you know,
Speaker 2: coming and bombarding them all the time. You know, people
Speaker 2: do not have the pressure that we have right now, Like,
Speaker 2: oh my gosh, if I don't perform well in a week,
Speaker 2: I could lose my job. If I don't do better
Speaker 2: in this post than my previous post, I won't get
Speaker 2: the same engagement. You see. The kind of pressure that
Speaker 2: we have now is so different. Whether it's through media,
Speaker 2: whether it's through the lifestyle choices, whether it's through the
Speaker 2: corporate and the institutions. The way the world is functioning
Speaker 2: it is. It's not easy. It's not in a slow
Speaker 2: paced manner like it used to back in the day now,
Speaker 2: it's in a very fast, fast paced manner. There's like deadlines.
Speaker 2: You need to do this, you need to do that.
Speaker 2: Sometimes I wake up in the morning, even before I
Speaker 2: think of anything, the first thing that comes is, Oh,
Speaker 2: I need to reply to this email. I need to
Speaker 2: get this work done in my office today. I need
Speaker 2: to complete this task. I need to do this. Like
Speaker 2: you know, that is the kind of a place where
Speaker 2: many of us are constantly living. You know what I mean,
Speaker 2: where there is no mental rest, there's no rest mentally,
Speaker 2: and they're not at the place of rest even emotionally. See,
Speaker 2: your emotions need rest as well, your mind needs rest
Speaker 2: as well, and you need to take rest physically also,
Speaker 2: whether it involves taking care of yourself with good food,
Speaker 2: whether it involves taking an app. Sometimes, because I remember
Speaker 2: there was a time when I used to think, oh,
Speaker 2: taking an app is this in you know, that's the
Speaker 2: way I was I was taught when I was growing up, like, oh,
Speaker 2: you know what, you're lazy. That's when you sleep. You know,
Speaker 2: it's no Sometimes you realize that if you want to
Speaker 2: work effectively, you need to learn that rhythm of taking
Speaker 2: time to pause, rest, doing nothing. This is not something
Speaker 2: that came to me easy, and I'm still not fully
Speaker 2: accustomed to this, but I'm learning myself to understand the
Speaker 2: balance of Yes, we need to be productive and all
Speaker 2: of that stuff, but we also need to take care
Speaker 2: of our health. We need to take care of and
Speaker 2: rest because only when we rest we are more effective.
Speaker 2: Let me just get close to this example. Right, if
Speaker 2: you take a phone or an app on a phone, right,
Speaker 2: we all use smartphones. When you take the app on
Speaker 2: your phone, every now and then, you need to update
Speaker 2: the app for it to function. Right. And if you
Speaker 2: say I'm not going to update the app, the app
Speaker 2: will not be working after a while. Right, You need
Speaker 2: to update the app. And here's the thing. When you
Speaker 2: update the app, it's like the app is on rest
Speaker 2: because you can't use the app while the app is
Speaker 2: getting updated. Right. But if you say, oh, I can't
Speaker 2: afford to not use the app, you know, I have
Speaker 2: to use the app all the time I can't update,
Speaker 2: Then what will happen? At one point the app will
Speaker 2: stop working completely. You need to update. Same thing with
Speaker 2: our life. Right. If you're saying, oh, I can't take Christ,
Speaker 2: I will not take Chris, what happens at some point
Speaker 2: your body will give in and then you'll have to
Speaker 2: be forced to take Christ three months or whatever period,
Speaker 2: or sometimes people have to take Christ for years for
Speaker 2: the mistake of not taking rest adequately in a routine manner,
Speaker 2: maybe every day or every week or every month. So
Speaker 2: today my challenge to each one of you is take
Speaker 2: time to rest, relax, resunate. There's nothing wrong in it.
Speaker 2: That's part of the design that God has for us
Speaker 2: so that we will function effectively. Amen, God bless you.
