Walking in Love – Part 4: Love Is the True Mark of a Disciple | John Giftah | Christian Sermon
Tonight's Episode
In Part 4 of the Walking in Love series, we explore one of the most powerful statements JESUS made about discipleship:“By this shall all men know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another.” (John 13:35)
Many believers are passionate about preaching truth and winning souls. But sometimes, in that passion, the element of love can be missing. The Bible never separates truth from love — the two must walk together.
In this episode, we discuss how love is not optional in representing CHRIST.
It is not enough to speak truth if we fail to reflect the heart of JESUS through warmth, compassion, and genuine care for people.
True discipleship is not only about what we preach — it is about how people experience CHRIST through us.
This episode will challenge you to reflect:
Do people feel loved when they interact with you?
Does your passion for truth also carry the warmth of CHRIST?

Speaker 1: Welcome to Fuel for the Soul with John Gifta.
Speaker 2: Hello everyone, Welcome to this edition of the Fuel for
Speaker 2: the Soul with John gift of podcast. And as you
Speaker 2: would have seen in the last couple of episodes, we've
Speaker 2: been doing a series on practically walking in Love. I've
Speaker 2: been sitting on the foundation for you to keep certain
Speaker 2: things in mind to how you and I call to
Speaker 2: walk in love, and I really challenge you to go
Speaker 2: back and check out each of those segments in depth.
Speaker 2: But today I'm going to talk about one of the
Speaker 2: important aspects to keep in mind with regard to love,
Speaker 2: because I want you to understand that you can do
Speaker 2: a lot of stuff in terms of ministry. You can say,
Speaker 2: you know what, I love people because I don't want
Speaker 2: them to go to hell, and you can say all
Speaker 2: of that with your words, But how do you formulate
Speaker 2: and how you demonstrate that love really really plays a
Speaker 2: key role. Because I want to share by telling you
Speaker 2: a personal story that happened to me maybe about a
Speaker 2: year or two ago. I happened to go to a
Speaker 2: friend's wedding where I was the best man at the wedding.
Speaker 2: And when I was in this wedding, what happened was
Speaker 2: there was this quote unquote a preacher. Okay, he was
Speaker 2: not a pastor, but he was an evangelist or a preacher,
Speaker 2: and he was really passionate about souls that had to
Speaker 2: be added to the Kingdom of God. I mean that
Speaker 2: was there, no doubt about it. But the thing is this,
Speaker 2: he suddenly caught me, my friend, and two others of
Speaker 2: God and then started preaching to us, you know, condemning.
Speaker 2: You know you're you're going straight to hell, and you
Speaker 2: know if you don't mend your ways and you will
Speaker 2: not come to the Lord, and all of these things
Speaker 2: without even getting to know who we were like in
Speaker 2: the sense he knew I was in ministry or even
Speaker 2: this friend of mine was growing in the Lord. I
Speaker 2: mean he was, you know, doing ministry and whenever he
Speaker 2: got opportunities and all of these things. So without even
Speaker 2: getting to know who we were, without even really concerned
Speaker 2: about what we were up to, what was going on
Speaker 2: in our life or anything like that, he started preaching
Speaker 2: and condemning to all of us. And he kept us
Speaker 2: up for almost thirty minutes, not leaving us. He was like,
Speaker 2: you know, trying to preach blah blah blah blah blah.
Speaker 2: And see, I mean, I'm all in for like I said,
Speaker 2: you know, if somebody is passionate about preaching or I mean,
Speaker 2: you know, that's the truth. I mean, each of us
Speaker 2: have to always guard ourselves to make sure that we
Speaker 2: are on the path of righteousness and we are in
Speaker 2: the salvation of the Lord. And and here's the thing, right,
Speaker 2: that's all fine, But what happened was this person did
Speaker 2: not care about us five minutes before as well, Like
Speaker 2: even when we were introduced or when we met prior
Speaker 2: to this particular incident, he didn't even care to check
Speaker 2: who we were, How are we what is going on.
Speaker 2: They had no smile. I mean, he was so cold,
Speaker 2: but he wanted to preach to us. And again after
Speaker 2: the preaching, all right, for the next couple of days,
Speaker 2: you know, as we were there for the whole wedding
Speaker 2: process and everything, he did not even look at us, like,
Speaker 2: you know, he didn't care about us. He was he
Speaker 2: was not bothered about us. Even when when we approached
Speaker 2: him he was he was so distant. And that is
Speaker 2: what I want to really remind you today. A lot
Speaker 2: of times what happens is we are passionate about the Gospel,
Speaker 2: we are passionate about preaching, we are passionate about winning souls,
Speaker 2: but we do not know how to do it the
Speaker 2: right way. I'm telling you. Even last week, I'm not kidding, Okay,
Speaker 2: last week I happened to go to a prayer meeting.
Speaker 2: And in this prayer meeting, the preacher happened to be
Speaker 2: a fiery evangelist who loos to win souls for Christ.
Speaker 2: And she she they introduced, and even she shard that,
Speaker 2: you know, she makes sure that every single day she
Speaker 2: leads somebody to the Lord, and she's passionate about Christ
Speaker 2: and all of these things. And then I'm thinking, honestly,
Speaker 2: I'm thinking honest conversation that I had. So after this meeting,
Speaker 2: I go to tell, you know, like and somebody introduces
Speaker 2: me to her, saying, you know, this guy is also
Speaker 2: passionate about winning souls and he's running his ministry. And
Speaker 2: the first thing she said, like, what's wrong with you?
Speaker 2: I'm like, what you knows? Like there's nothing wrong. She's like,
Speaker 2: I'm running my ministry, and she's like, what's wrong with
Speaker 2: the ministry? She didn't know how to approach, like to
Speaker 2: be gracious, and I mean, you know, the conversation was
Speaker 2: like so, I mean, like, how does say this? Like
Speaker 2: there was no flow and there was no grace, And
Speaker 2: at that point the person who wanted to introduce me
Speaker 2: to her felt like, oh my goodness, you know, why
Speaker 2: did I even introduce these two? You know, because this
Speaker 2: person showed that she was so passionate and was like,
Speaker 2: you know, I want to win souls and all of that.
Speaker 2: But see, you can have that passion, you can have
Speaker 2: all of that, but if you're not able to operate
Speaker 2: from the realm of loo to show grace and to
Speaker 2: actually have warm relationships with people, you're missing the mark
Speaker 2: you're missing the mark. You know what, I'm going to
Speaker 2: share a very important scripture. I always go back to
Speaker 2: John thirteen thirty five. It says, for by this shall
Speaker 2: all men know you're my disciples when you will love
Speaker 2: one for another. By this shall all men you know
Speaker 2: you're my disciples when you have loo one for another. See.
Speaker 2: I'm telling you, you can preach your best sermon. You
Speaker 2: can be eloquent. You can, you know, coach hundreds of
Speaker 2: scriptures in your sermons. You you can have a lot
Speaker 2: of amazing encounters. You see, even if you look at
Speaker 2: First Corinthians. Right, Chapter twelve talks about the gifts, right,
Speaker 2: gifts of the Holy Spirit. Chapter thirteen talks about love.
Speaker 2: Chapter fourteen talks about gifts again. Right. Here's the thing
Speaker 2: I wanted to understand. There's a reason why LAO chapter
Speaker 2: Chapter thirteen comes in between these two chapters about gifts,
Speaker 2: because a lot of people operate in the power, the anointing,
Speaker 2: the fire and the you know, the ministry and the
Speaker 2: and the position, the platform and all of this stuff
Speaker 2: without the filter of love. That's why the post part
Speaker 2: said in the middle of these two chapters, he says this,
Speaker 2: you know, but the greatest of these is love. You
Speaker 2: can you can have the power and the fire and
Speaker 2: all of that, but if you do not have love,
Speaker 2: what is the use of everything?
Speaker 1: What is if.
Speaker 2: You can speak in tongue, so if you can prophesy,
Speaker 2: you can do great miracles. But if you do not
Speaker 2: demonstrate loo, if you do not care for the person
Speaker 2: in front of you, if you're not able to make
Speaker 2: them feel at peace or at ease to even look
Speaker 2: at you, or to talk with you, or if you
Speaker 2: can't have a normal conversation with somebody, what is the problem?
Speaker 2: You are the problem. I'm sorry. I pray today that
Speaker 2: God will search your hearts and mend you and get
Speaker 2: you to the place where you realize the importance of
Speaker 2: the need to operate from that place of love, because
Speaker 2: without love, nothing will work. I pray that you will
Speaker 2: have love in the center of your evangelism, love in
Speaker 2: the center of your Christian life, and when you operate
Speaker 2: from the place of love. I want to close with
Speaker 2: another example. You know, in my life I've seen that
Speaker 2: when I go into corporate work structure, necrospace engineer, right,
Speaker 2: what happens? Sometimes people say, oh, these these preachers, because
Speaker 2: they know that I'm into preaching and stuff like that.
Speaker 2: So they're like, oh, they're here to convert, and you know,
Speaker 2: they want to keep away from us. And I'm telling you,
Speaker 2: you know what really broke the ice for me with
Speaker 2: most people was love to care for them, to genuinely
Speaker 2: take care of them or meet their needs or help
Speaker 2: them in some way, or to be there for them.
Speaker 2: And I'm telling you, after that, I've heard actually accounts
Speaker 2: of people saying, I did not expect this from you
Speaker 2: because I thought you were here only to convert us.
Speaker 2: You see, you, guys, by this, shall haulman know you,
Speaker 2: my disciples, when you have love, When you have love,
Speaker 2: let us operate in love. Amen. God bless you.
